I have been testing and using humidifiers for more than 15 years and I cannot deny their love-hate relationship. It’s comfortable for both my family and me because it prevents the room from drying out, but many humidifiers leak water, are cumbersome to clean, and cost filters and replacement parts.
Best Overall: Levoit OasisMist Smart Humidifier
After testing 59 humidifiers in the lab and at home, the best humidifier we choose is the Levoit OasisMist Smart Humidifier. Personally testing this humidifier at home, I found it surprisingly quiet and effective, significantly improving family sleep. It also helped the family survive dry winters and cold and flu seasons.
It works for up to 12 hours with a single filling, so you don’t have to worry about drying it all night. I like the fact that it is relatively easy to care for and takes up little space, while it has both hot and cold mist functions and smart functions.
Compared to other humidifiers that have been tested for many years and have more than a gallon of tanks, this model is relatively easy to clean because the top is large, removable and has full access to the entire tank. The instruction manual carefully explains which parts should be removed, and the scale removal work can be completed in about 40 minutes.
Why we Like it?
- Vivid control panel and easy-to-use app
- Setting Both Cool Mist and Warm Mist
- Clear tank and top fill design
- Essential Oil Tray
Features
- Dimensions: 11.97 x 10.8 x 6.0”
- Room size: 430 square feet
- Run Time: 45 hour
- Water Tank Capacity: 1.19 gallons
Best Overall: Dreo Smart Humidifier
Dreo’s 6-liter humidifier is also an all-round humidifier, perfect for those who need a slightly larger humidifier (larger tank capacity) or a humidifier with a slightly different design.
Cool mist and warm mist, smart function, transparent tank, top fill design, etc. One of our favorite features was that we could use the Alexa app to set the ideal humidity level on our phones. Voice control is also possible.
Overall, like the best humidifier, this one was easy to clean. However, it is not a quick task, and you need to clean several parts and every corner with a brush. We used tap water but only noticed mineral dust under the tank. To avoid future problems, I rinsed the tank every time it was emptied and wiped it off whenever I removed it.
Why we Like it?
- It is slightly larger than the overall best.
- Powerful Essential Oil Diffuser
- Gentle Warm Mist Option
- Respond to Alexa
Features
- Dimensions:11.4 x 6.14 x 13.93 inches
- Room size: 100-550 square feet
- Run Time: 60 hours
- Water Tank Capacity: 1.5 gallons
Best for Bedrooms: BlueAir InvisibleMist Humidifier
I think any humidifier is perfect for a bedroom, but this one with blue air is my favorite. This humidifier is the only product that allows you to put water without removing the lid or carrying the tank to the sink, making it easy to put water in when you need it.
I tried it for several months in the bedroom, but the drying of the air during the winter was improved and there were significant differences. I also love the smart features of the app. For example, you can schedule on and off, track humidity levels over time, and remotely control them.
Why we Like it?
- Easiest to fill out
- Scheduling and other options available in the app
- Dishwasher-compatible tank
- Filter to keep the air clean
Features
- Dimensions: 14.6 x 9.4 inches
- Room size: 500 square feet
- Run Time: 48 hours
- Water Tank Capacity: 0.98 gallon
Final Thought
After testing 59 humidifiers, the Levoit OasisMist Smart Humidifier was the best overall pick. This compact cool mist or warm mist humidifier covers a large area with multiple smart settings and quiet operation. In addition, more than six months of testing at home found it to be very easy to clean and maintain. I also like the Dreo Smart Humidifier. This humidifier has many of the same functions, but the capacity of the water tank is large, which means that the operation time is even longer.
Why Trust The Product Radar?
Our team has many senior editors who have tested and written humidifiers, dehumidifiers, heaters, air purifiers and other home gardening products at different magzines. I have been using and not using humidifiers for a long time, and I have tested several humidifiers in the past few years. While there’s no denying that humidifiers can give you peace of mind, especially during the cold and flu seasons (or the dry winter months), cleaning a humidifier isn’t my favorite household task.
I am currently testing Raydrop Cool Mist Humidifier. The compact humidifier is convenient because it can be placed on the desk while working. In the bedroom, I’m trying the BlueAir InvisibleMist humidifier (my new favorite). I also use some humidifiers for my kids’ bedroom (Levoit, Crane models, etc.) in search of a perfect humidifier.
