The Evolution Pro 750 is a compact model and the shortest garbage disposer we have tested. This allows ample space for spray bottles and detergents to be placed in the cabinet under the sink. Still, it has many excellent features required for garbage disposers, such as stainless steel crushed parts and soundproof insulation. It took about 15 minutes to install. The stainless steel sink drain, as the name “quick lock” suggests, was relatively easy to install. Evolution Pro successfully processed the food waste mix we prepared, crushing baked beans, carrots and raw celery to average grain size. However, the chicken bones seemed to be milled rather roughly compared to other models. It is still the best overall model, with a great balance of speed, noise, performance and quality of construction.

Best Value: Anaheim Manufacturing Whirlaway 291PC Garbage Disposal
In this price range, few garbage disposers offer the same value as the Whirlaway 291PC. The Whirlaway uses the same EZ mount as the Waste King below, which makes it easy to install without tools and comes with a plug with a cord. The installation took only about 10 minutes and was completed a little faster than the InSinkErator above. Carrots, baked beans and raw celery were processed smoothly, and the food particles crushed were relatively uniform and fine. The maize core in particular was a surprise, and the model was ground in about 30 seconds, giving it the same performance as a more powerful garbage disposer. The bone was also finely crushed, but the crushing sound during use was slightly larger.

Most Affordable: Waste King L-111 Garbage Disposal
The Waste King L-111 is a pre-wired, ready-to-install model that is also very affordable. The rubber gasket seals the connection of the sink flange, and the body is made of reinforced polymer (a type of plastic) and is attached to the flange with a twist lock connector. The drain is connected to the existing p-trap with a compression fitting (no fitting is included). There is also a connection for the drain hose of the dishwasher if necessary. The installation was relatively simple, according to the instructions that came with it. The raw corn core was the most formidable material and required several start stops to grind it completely. Some movement was seen that temporarily stopped the L-111 impeller from pushing into the grinding ring. However, it didn’t clog up at all, and in the end, we were able to handle all the ingredients. However, compared to other models we have tested, it’s a bit more laborious.
